Anything but what I am supposed to be doing.

Yes...I am blogging.
No...there are no pictures.

You see, I had Friday off as my first day of summer break but seeing as how today is Monday, I actually feel like I am on summer break.  This morning I woke up at 10:30, yes I LOVED sleeping in, and made a list of all of the things I wanted to get done in the apartment today including my closet, the coat closet, laundry, hanging pictures.  Instead, I called my mom and headed to lunch with the family then made a plan that sounded more fun...SHOPPING.

Mom and I have both been pinning a ton of things on Pinterest and have not done any of them.  So today we set off to every craft store here in Omaha to start to stock up on all of the goodies.  Now we have to actually get started.  I want to make some super cute wreaths for all of the seasons.  Mom and I are making me a super cute maxi dress.  I bought paint to try a new piece of art for the apartment.  Then we are going to try this cool thing on vases.  I am hoping to actually feel like I have accomplished something this summer.  Don't worry, I will keep you updated on my procrastination hard work!

Tomorrow, mom and I are going to the drive through zoo so I am not sure when I will get to that to do list but once I get a few of those done and am proud of how the apartment looks I will take pictures.  If you are REALLY lucky, I might even do a video tour.  I am sure you are all dying to hear me ramble about our new place.  Keep your fingers crossed.

Until next time,
XO

I'm a college graduate!

I did it!  I am officially a college graduate.  UNO decided to bring graduation to the campus now to keep the tradition closer to home.  Today was the university convocation in which the chancellor of the university conferred all of the degrees.  I didn't think today was that big of a deal but I found out while we were there the I am officially graduated now.  I even moved my tassel over.  Here are a few pictures to share the event:

You can clearly tell I am happy to be graduating.  It was nearly 90 degrees outside today.  The ceremony was on the football field, in the sun, in thick black robes. I was DRIPPING by the time we were done and I have a nice strawberry face now for tomorrow.  Notice the cords for Delta Epsilon Iota Honors Society, Kappa Delta Pi Education Honors Society, and my medallion for graduating cum laude, with honors.

This is my not so little, little brother.  This is a good indication of what our relationship is really about!

Without my mom and my dad I don't know where I would be.  They have been my biggest support system and have been there no matter what.  They helped my financially, mentally, and physically.  I missed them my first three years of college and I am so happy they are now back and an active part of my life.

This is my G.  He is a pain in the butt and the best grandpa ever all at the same time.  He cracks me up all the time.  Of all of the people out there, I think this guy might be my BIGGEST supporter.  He has ALWAYS believed in me and has given me the biggest cheers.

Aren't we a happy bunch!

This is us in the procession in.  I am the girl in about the middle looking kind of towards the camera.  I was already melting at this point so almost an hour and a half later I was DEAD!

This was the College of Education standing up for our degrees to be conferred.

My pretty bling on my cap.  I hated wearing the thing...this just made me a little excited about it.

This bad boy went on my car right when we got home.  I am a graduate!  I am an alumni!
Tomorrow we are back to the university for the individual college graduations.  I will walk across the stage where I will be recognized for my honor and my degree.  My dear boyfriend will be there and trust me when I say we will take a ton of pictures.

After dying in the heat once again, we are back to the house to have my party which is a Cinco do Mayo fiesta.  I will make sure to take some pictures of that as well.

Wish us luck in the heat and that I don't trip walking across the stage.

Until next time,
XO

Love, Peace, and Sleeping in!

Today was kindergarten round up.  Therefore, it was a day off for me.  I got to sleep in which was nice considering I woke up at 12:45 to the loudest thunder EVER and then again at 7:00 having to go to the bathroom.  I climbed back in bed and covered my head and out I went.

I went to see my 3rd graders today since this would have been my last day with them had I not moved into kindergarten.  It was great to see them.  I was showered with hugs and a lot of love.  I sure miss them.

Mom and I then ran all over getting all of the food we need for my graduation party.  Oh yeah, that's just two days away now.  Holy Cow!

I went for comfort today with a little cuteness.  I love the dress but hate that I am always tugging it up.  I thought this was a different take on it.  Love how it turned out.

I felt kind of hippy-ish today.  This would have totally been a hit in the 70s
Until next time,
XO

From the mouths of babes

If you want the honest truth, ask a kid!  They will tell it to you like it is.

Awesome and Awkward to include some of these truths!

Awesome: I had a half day yesterday because I had a doc apt.
Awkward: My kindergartners asked me if I was having a baby.  (Their teacher is on maternity leave...I am calling this the seed that was planted in their mind and not that I look fat!)

Awesome: Overall this week hasn't been bad in my classroom.
Awkward: One of the girls comes up to me today and says "I like you because you are pretty!"  What would she have said if I wasn't?

Awesome: Mom and I are working hard to get everything ready for the grad party Saturday.
Awkward: My thumb and forefinger are stained red from making mints.

Awesome: I am officially done student teaching and will now be getting paid for my work in the kindergarten room.
Awkward: I won't get my first pay check until the 1st of June...So much for paying rent.

Awesome: I don't have school tomorrow because of kindergarten round up.
Awkward: I might need to go to bed now so I don't fall asleep with the lights and my TV on.

Awesome: I got to see a good friend yesterday I haven't seen in a good while now.
Awkward: I ate qdoba like a pig and didn't go to zumba : (

Awesome: I am watching The Big Bang Theory DVDs over again for about the 100th time.
Awkward: I randomly catch myself quoting the show and singing the theme song to myself.

Awesome: I am almost a college grad!
Awkward: I still don't know what I am doing in the fall.

Awesome:  I had a job interview yesterday and as far as I can tell it went really well.
Awkward:  I almost blew chunks waiting to be called in due to nerves!

I am going to leave you with that lovely image.

Until next time,
XO

It's about to get bat crap crazy around here!

Haha...sorry another reference to The Big Bang Theory for any of you that didn't notice.  I am down to the last three weeks of school (well teaching school) and I cannot believe how insane it is about to get.

This week for example:

Tomorrow I have my first real interview.  Yes, I am also totally freaking out.  Like at times I find myself feeling super nauseous!  I then have a doc apt in the afternoon so I am leaving school early.

Tuesday is a big testing day at school plus another assembly (gotta love the end of the year)!  Should be pretty easy.

Wednesday is kindergarten round up...therefore...there are no kindergartners at school.  I am needed from 1:00-1:15 and that is all.  I love sleeping in!

Thursday I am back at school with the kiddos and will be preparing for a sub on Friday.  This is also my first day of officially getting paid to be in my room (cue happy dance here!).  After school, mom and I are off to the University of pick up my cap and gown!

Friday I am taking a personal day on account of the fact that I will be graduating part 1.  UNO is doing a graduation weekend now and I am taking part in both Friday and Saturday.

Saturday is the BIG day.  I will walk across the stage, get my fake diploma until the real deal is mailed to me, then I will smile for a million pictures!  The party is that night and I am so excited!

Sunday will be recovery for sure!

Then I am back to school.  Busy week then too with move in day getting closer and closer!

There is this big part of me that feels like everything in life is coming together...however, I still can't help but get super nervous thinking about what is unknown.  I can't thank my family and the boyfriend for all of their support.  Driving home from the movie tonight the boyfriend said to me, "man, things are about to get really great.  You are graduating, we are moving in together, you are going to get a job..."  He really believes in me!

I will leave you with the cute comment from one of my kindergartners on Friday:

We were standing outside waiting for her mom.  It was raining all sorts of sideways and it was cold.  I had just told her I was bummed I left my umbrella INSIDE my car instead of bringing it into school with me.  I told her I was going to have to cover and run to get to my car.  She looked at me and says, "don't you have a husband?"  I laughed and told her no.  She proceeds to tell me, "Oh, that's too bad.  A husband is supposed to drive up to the school and pick you up so you don't get wet!"

Man...now I want a husband!

Until next time,
XO

The Whole Univerise was in a Hot Dense State...

I love The Big Bang Theory!  I am watching it while I get some things done and I am loving it.  I am actually pretty sad that I don't have a group of crazy guy friends like this!

This is not a direct reflection of our meteor shower viewing attempt (we were NOT stoned) but it made me laugh!  Probably one of the best episodes of TBBT

This past week as been crazy...and it will only continue to get crazier and crazier as time goes by.

I found out this week that I will be teaching summer school in the district I am hoping to get a job in!  I am super pumped up about this whole thing.  This is the first step into the job that I am hoping to get.  Now I just have my fingers crossed for a job in the district in the fall.  Fingers CROSSED!!!

Tomorrow night I am getting to go with my grandpa to the high school to see the musical Grease.  I love musicals and am excited to get the chance to spend some time with G and sing along with classic songs.

Friday I get to see the boyfriend which is good because it has been almost a week again.  It's really sad how long passes between us seeing each other any more.  It's like we need to live together to see each other.  At least we are sure we will enjoy the first few weeks of getting to be together.  We will see how long it lasts after that : )

I have a SUPER busy week next week which actually makes me super happy because it means graduation will be here really soon and then we will be even closer to summer.

A week from Saturday I will be a college grad!
Two weeks from tomorrow I will be in my new apartment!
Three weeks from tomorrow and I will be on summer break!

I am one happy girl.

Until next time,
XO
